
MONICA IS A GUATEMALAN DIRECTOR, PRODUCER & ACTRESS CREATING FROM BROOKLYN, NY
Monica has been on a stage since she was 4 years old. For 16 years she danced ballet with the company Marcelle Bonge, where she had the opportunity to dance in the Guatemalan National Theatre. This made her discover, since a very early age, that the stage was her HOME.
Later on, Monica discovered film and fell in love with the process of making films happen. From producing to directing, and everything in between, she has been in a passionate relationship with filmmaking for the past 8 yeasr of her life.
Monica Palmieri has directed and produced short films including "Small Talk", "Complete Sentences" and "Black Hole" (Official Selection Icaro International Film Festival and Corto Circuito New York Short Film Festival). Datin Marvin, short film produced by Palmieri premiered at the 68th Cannes film festival short corner. Monica has directed and produced video content for SPIN Magazine, StubHub, and The Wild Honey Pie. Monica's work as 1st AD extends to companies like Comedy Central, Vice and Amenic Cinema.
Palmieri has also directed several stage readings for the Flores Play Festival in New York since 2014. In 2012 Palmieri directed her first on-stage show "I Just Want To Look Good Naked" for the Labyrinth Theatre Company Workshop Ensemble. She is an alumni of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
Mónica’s feature films credits include in Holy Cow where she shared the screen with spanish Goya Winner actor, Jorge Sanz (Belle Eqpoque Academy Award Winner); VIP: The Other House; A Day in the Sun.
Mónica’s Theatre Credits include a completed season (110 shows) of Su Familia Progresa, leading roles in The Lover by H. Pinter, Hansel & Gretel, The Game we all play by Jorodobski, The wizard of Oz, The Twins, Doña Barbara, La Historia de un Pepe, Huite Hills and La Bastarda, all with a successful 6 months run.
Monica is a Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute alumni. As well as Marcelle Bonge Ballet Company (where she danced for 16 years).
